Lindy Bout XIV & COVID-19 Announcements
March 17: Refunds & Donations
From the bottom of our well-worn dancing shoes, THANK YOU for all your love and support. We are continually humbled by how much this event means to you.
We were heartbroken that we needed to cancel Lindy Bout XIV. We will miss being with you in-person in April, but things are a-brewin’ for an online Lindy Bout celebration…
In the meantime, take care of yourselves and those around you; remember we’re in this together. Wash your hands, open your hearts, and don’t let physical distance distance you from others.
*Choose Your Own Refund*
Thank you to everyone who offered to help with your pocketbooks. We have set up a system allowing you to choose how much of your registration you would like refunded. Any money not refunded and donated to Lindy Bout will go to our musicians and artists. It will help support them until communal dancing times are here again and they can resume their work with in-person accompaniment.
Please read the following carefully. ‘Cause it’s how the refund and donation process will work:
You should have received an email from email@example.com containing a list of all things Lindy Bout XIV that you have registered for and your registration number. (We sent these emails on March 17 around 7:45pm Pacific Time.) If this email is not in your inbox, please check your spam folder. If it’s not in your spam folder, please send us an email and we’ll help you out. Then, follow the steps below…
Follow THIS LINK to our refund and donations form. Complete the form. You can choose how much of a refund you would like and how much you wish to donate to Lindy Bout.
Submit the form by 11:59pm Vancouver time, March 23.
If you do not fill out a form, we will assume you would like 100% of your money back — and that is a-okay! We want to make sure that everyone is supported in this time of uncertainty.
Starting March 24, we will begin processing refunds. This may take several days, so you can expect to see the money back in your account by March 31 (or sooner).
If you have any questions please reach out to us.
Love and online swing outs,
Stephanie and Eileen
March 12: LBXIV cancellation
Dearest Lindy Bouters,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the cancellation of Lindy Bout XIV.
The COVID-19 situation in Western Canada and Washington has developed very rapidly over the last week. Although the risk of community disease transmission in BC remains low, Lindy Bout is very much a regional event. Over the course of this week, we have been consulting with Vancouver Coastal Health to help us assess risks related to Lindy Bout. This morning, we received an official recommendation from a Medical Health Officer to cancel Lindy Bout XIV. And then, this afternoon, BC’s Provincial Health Officer announced a ban on events larger than 250 people.
We are working through the repercussions of cancelling the event and will be taking the weekend to reassess the best way to move forward. On our way, we will be guided by our priorities:
- Minimizing financial losses to attendees;
- Supporting artists and others who rely on our event for income;
- Avoiding bankruptcy (due unrecoverable costs because of cancelling the event);
- Keeping the Lindy Bout spirit alive.
We know you have many questions and so do we. We know you have many feelings and so do we. We also have lots of ideas for how to celebrate our community without gathering together in-person. We will be in touch again next week with answers and details about our plans. We thank you for your patience, love, and support.
Take care of yourselves and keep your hands clean and your hearts open!
Love and swing outs (with freshly sanitized hands),
Eileen and Stephanie
